Academy of Health and Human Services

 The need for certified medical professionals is at an all-time high, and those who want to establish a career in the health care field can gain the competitive edge by beginning in their formative years and learning the skills of tomorrow.

The Academy of Health and Emergency Services prepares students with broad, transferable skills, knowledge, and behaviors that lead to initial employment or to post-secondary training in the health occupations field. Participating students receive industry certifications and participate in clinical training opportunities. Students also will gain the confidence necessary to excel in one of today’s top fields.

 

 This CTE program is a planned sequence of courses consisting of:

  • Health Science 1 or Anatomy and Physiology
  • Health Science 2
  • Nursing Assistant 3

 

Industry Recognized Certifications

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

The Nursing Assistance test measures an individual’s knowledge of the core skills required of nursing assistants. Designed for all health care support professionals, this test covers the following topics: Basic Emergency Care, Basic Human Needs and Communication, Body Systems, Body Systems Disorders, Infection and Infection Control, Mental Health, Nutrition, Patient Care and Comfort, Role and Responsibility, and Vital Signs.

Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA)

Allied health professionals who work primarily in ambulatory settings (clinics and medical offices) under the supervision of physicians. CMAs are capable of doing both clinical and administrative procedures, and are educated and tested in such procedures.

Academy of Robotics

 To succeed in the robotics field, professionals must understand engineering design, complex computer systems, sensory feedback and information processing. A creative mind also is imperative to designing and developing robotics systems that will set the standard for generations to come.

The study of robotics, by its very nature, captures all four legs of STEM very well while a competitive environment increases motivation and desire to succeed, thus creating classroom environments where both knowledge and skill development can flourish without having to compromise one for the other.
